Lydford Castle
and surrounding areas
Lydford, Devon
3rd July 2010
Meet at The Church Inn (next door to the castle) at 8:30pm for drinks and briefings. Investigation begins 10pm and finishes around 5-6am.
Haunted Apparitions have investigated twice at the infamous Lydford Castle with some quite remarkable results.
Completely contrary to it`s name Lydford Castle was built originally as a wooden Norman prison, with it being re-built in stone during the Middle Ages. It soon became infamous and feared through out the country for the barbaric punishments carried out on the inmates. Judge Jeffries (an equally famous and barbaric judge) presided over most of the later punishments, which included committing local tin miners, who had been caught stealing tin, to drinking two quarts of molten tin...with obvious results.
In it`s later life the field behind the Castle was dug up and banked around the walls of the building, creating a large mound, giving the appearance it has today of being a very small building from the outside. However you can soon see how deep it goes into the ground when you enter.
By day or night, Lydford Castle has a menacing and depressive feeling, and phenomenon seems to be unending. The team have on several occasions been threatened as they enter the main door by a very gruff and protective man (we assume the Gaoler) and each time an extraordinary sense of vertigo prevails throughout the investigation. Inmates from past times have attempted to prove they are there, with extraordinary sequences of flying orbs caught on camera, some of our most convincing (and quite threatening) EVP`s and possible beginnings of manifestations caught on stills.

Nearby Lydford Churchyard seems to hold equally as much paranormal activity, with some very strange light anomalies and manys of the team hearing footsteps through the walls of the church itself, when all seems very dark and quiet.
Topographically a triangle of buildings in completed with the mound of the original Norman Fort only a few minutes walk away. Although not a huge amount has been picked up here, some members of the team have collected small evidence of orbs.
Haunted Apparitions have not yet a whole night at this amazing triangle of buildings and plan to spend the entire night with finely honed in experiments and recordings etc, to see how much more Lydford has to release. Additionally we are informed that Lydford has a tunnel underneath it, which is a little known fact, even amoung the locals. We will be attempting to find this as well.
Each team member will have the chance to Spirit Dowse, our technician will teach you how to use equipment such as EMF meters and recording for EVP, and you will be able to interact with various experiments that will be tailored for this particular investigation with the hope that it will induce more paranormal activity. Our resident Medium will be on hand to help communicate with any souls found and will also conduct a séance, and possible channeling on the night.
If you would like to join us investigating all three areas, we can assure you that you won`t be disappointed!
Please bring hot tea and coffee with you, and any food you would like to sustain you through the evening! Buffet,Tea and Coffee throughout the night.
